From Downtown to Tinseltown, Fashion Legend PATRICIA FIELD Joins Host Committee for Café Tabac Film Fundraiser Event

The 79th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals    This Native New Yorker and Café Tabac regular is one of fashion’s greatest visionaries and we are proud to announce her as one of the members of our Host Committee for our upcoming #Back2Tabac #NYCPride2015 Fundraiser Event sponsored by MAC Cosmetics. Patricia Field was a regular at the original Café Tabac, making unforgettable dramatic entrances donning her idiosyncratic brand of style and her ever-changing hair! She is also interviewed in our upcoming documentary feature film where she mentions that she drew some of her inspiration for her iconic work on HBO’s hit television series, “Sex and the City,” from the stylishly empowered women at Café Tabac.

Known for stimulating a worldwide fashion movement for women through “Sex and the City,” which raised the standards for glamour on television and was the most fashionable show in television history, Patricia is an Academy Award-nominated (“The Devil Wears Prada) and multi-Emmy Award-winning costume designer for film and television. She brought the ingenuity and excitement of downtown street fashions to the mainstream.

Patricia began her career with the opening of her Greenwich Village boutique in 1966. For over 40 years this downtown institution had been a haven for many in the downtown LGBT queer community, which went on to become an internationally-known favorite of celebrities, in-the-know “scenesters” and the fashion-forward. It has been a defining factor in the urban style of New York’s glittery nightlife, and helped to launch the careers of many innovative young designers and stylists.
