Host Committee Member BETTY Invites YOU to Join Us #Back2Tabac #NYCPride2015
We are so proud to announce that the band BETTY has joined the ranks of our esteemed host committee for our upcoming #Back2Tabac #NYCPride2015 fundraiser event. They are part of our incredible Café Tabac alumna and we are so honored to have had their avid support since the begining of the project and to have been able to interview Elizabeth and Amy Ziff (yes, they are sisters) for our film.
They provided such moving accounts of what it was like to live in the NYC of the early ’90s as musicians, and after touring across the globe, to return and have Café Tabac as a place to call home. It is also fitting that they are the featured story leading straight into the event as Amy was the one who had coined the phrase “Back to Tabac” in her film interview, as she begged Wanda to bring back the party and take us back to tabac, which is now the name of our event and hashtag. Thank you Amy! Your wish has been granted and we look forward to celebrating Pride with BETTY this year!
BETTY is widely known for their contributions on the “The L-Word,” a groundbreaking hit TV series made by lesbians about lesbians. They created original music for the show including its theme song, and made guest appearances. But they are most known to their loyal following of fans, for not only their music, but for their activism and dedication to equality and rights for women and girls.
We salute you for channeling your musical talents and your voice to the tireless work that you do in support of women. You are a true model of what our Café Tabac story is all about. And we thank you for supporting and joining us on our journey to bring this film to life. You guys ROCK!
BETTY invites you to join us #Back2Tabac at #NYCPride2015.
The Event is on WEDNESDAY, June 24th, 2015
